Shiyalhey hands himself over to Police

The man accused of planning and implementing the current violence in Male’ and the attacks on Police has handed himself over to the Police today.

Police said that Shiyan Shafeeg (Shiyalhey) of H. Hedheythundi handed himself over to the Police at around 18:30 today. Announcements including his photo had been made in search of him.

A Police official said that he is suspected of threatening the Police using a knife during the protest by MDP against President Dr Waheed delivering his presidential address at the Parliament. He has criminal record of assault, and has been on the Police ‘wanted’ list.
