Maldives Hajj Corporation runs out of quota

Maldives Hajj Corporation has exhausted the Hajj slots allocated to the corporation for the year 2015.

Long queues remained in and outside Dharubaaruge yesterday when the 370 slots allocated to the corporation were exhausted.

People formed long queues from 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night, seeking to obtain slots to make the Hajj pilgrimage this year. Scores of disappointed locals remained at the convention hall and expressed their frustrations, but were later escorted out by the police.

Saudi Arabia has granted 800 slots to the Maldives, of which 400 slots have been granted to private hajj groups.
