UK tourist dies while snorkelling

A tourist from the UK has drowned while snorkelling near Biyadhoo Resort.

Police said that the 65-year-old man was reported missing at 6:24 p.m., and he was found dead off Biyadhoo Resort around at 7:45 p.m.

His death was confirmed by Kaafu Maafushi Health Centre.

Incidents of tourists drowning have increased over the past few years, and efforts are under way by Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with resort owners to take measured to prevent such accidents.
