CEO of Pension Office Mohamed Hussain Manik has said that the disbursement of MVR 5,000 to the elderly as social protection allowance will be completed on Monday or Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference, Manik denied rumours that it would not be possible to pay the MVR 5,000 in full by the end of this month, and said that the transfer of the basic pension of MVR 2,300 to the accounts of eligible persons will be completed tomorrow, and that the remaining MVR 2,700, as pledged by the new government, will be transferred already tomorrow if the money is released by the government.
He said that all administrative work regarding the disbursement of of MVR 5,000 to the elderly has been completed.
He said that persons eligible for basic pension of MVR 2,300 do not need to submit any new form to claim the full MVR 5,000.
Vice Chairperson of Economic Council, Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb told Sun Online that disbursement of MVR 5,000 to the elderly as social protection allowance commenced today, and that it will be completed on Tuesday.
