New council

New Mayor of Male’ Mohamed Shihab has said that the newly-elected 11 members of Male’ City Council would not work against the government, and that the council’s aim was to provide comprehensive services to the people of Male’.

In response to a question posed by Sun Online following the swearing-in ceremony for councillors, Shihab said that no council would deliberately try to make things difficult for the people, and that the aim of the former Male’ City Council also, was to serve the people.

The 11 members of the new Male’ City Council is made up of three Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) members and eight Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members.

Member of Male’ City Council Mohamed Sajid said that PPM members are willing to work with MDP members, but they will protest against MDP members’ efforts when required.

Male’ City Council is made up of Mohamed Sajid for Hulhu-Henveyru, Zaidul Ameen for Medhu- Henveyru, Ibrahim Nimal for Henveyru-South, Shifa Mohamed for Galolhu-North, Fathimath Rizween for Galolhu-South, Mohamed Rashid for Mahchangolhi-North, Ibrahim Mannoon for Mahchangolhi-South, Shamau Shareef for Maafannu-West, Ahmed Rishwan for Maafannu-South, Hussain Shareef for Vili-Maafannu, and Mohamed Shihab for Maafannu-North.
