Police have said that the cases of ten people arrested for attacking the Police yesterday and today are under strict investigation.
Superintendent of Police Ahmed Mohamed strongly condemned these attacks and told reporters that Police will not hesitate in taking the necessary steps against these groups. Ten people have been arrested so far. Three Police were attacked on two occasions last night, including sexual assault of a female Police Officer.
Ahmed Mohamed said that attacking security forces is not accepted in any democratic country, and acts of violence against Police will not be tolerated.
He said that strict steps within the limits of the law will be taken against those responsible, including producing them in court for prosecution.
Noting that a large number of youth take part in creating the current violence, Ahmed Mohamed advised young people to abstain from such crimes.
“Youth should be serving the country in areas which are beneficial to the country. I advise young people to abstain from being used by a group of people in achieving their own selfish agenda and objectives,” Ahmed Mohamed said.
Of late, attacks on Police stations, families of Police personnel and personal property of Police personnel are on the rise.
