PPM and MDP win Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council

The two Vilingili seats in Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council have been won by candidates representing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

The Vilingili seats in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council Election were contested by two MDP candidates and two PPM candidates.

The preliminary result of the election shows that PPM candidate Saudulla Rasheed received 1,272 votes, while MDP candidate Mohamed Khaleel received 1,124 votes.

The two candidates who lost were MDP's Ali Musthafa and PPM's Mohamed Hashim, who received 812 and 947 votes respectively.

The overall result of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council Election shows that PPM won only one seat; the remaining seats, for Dhaandhoo and Gemanafushi, were won by MDP.
