The MVR 1.4 million worth waste management system established in Lhaviyani Hinnavaru by Komandoo Island Resort has been officially handed over to Fenaka Corporation.
At a ceremony held in this regard yesterday, the agreement was signed by Director of Utilities Service Division of Fenaka Corporation Hussain Hameez and General Manager of Komandoo Island Resort Manager Ali Adam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hussain Hameez noted the generous aid received by Hinnavaru from Komandoo Resort.
“This is a project worth about $900,000. Even earlier, when people of this island faced difficulties managing waste, they were helped by Komandoo Resort. Generous assistance has been received over the years,” he said.
He said that following the hand-over of the new waste dumping area to Fenaka Corporation, preparation was under way to implement the waste management work.
“Earlier, when Konamdoo Resort was disturbed by our failure to manage waste, we would request their assistance. But now we can carry out this work permanently. We now have the staff necessary to carry out this work as well,” he said.
Fenaka Corporation thanked Komandoo Resort for this investment in Hinnavaru.
