Re-registration will be opened next week: Elections Commission

Elections Commission has said that re-registration for the upcoming Parliamentary Election will be opened next week.

In an interview, Director General of Elections Commission Mohamed Shakeel told Sun Online that re-registration, for persons wishing to vote from locations other than their permanent residences, will be opened from 18 to 28 February.

Shakeel stressed that all persons wishing to vote from locations other than their permanent residences are required to re-register if they wish to vote at the Parliamentary Election.

“Everyone who wishes to vote from locations other than their permanent residences must re-register. The commission will not consider the re-registration done for the Presidential Election and the Local Council Election. Re-registration will be separate for the Parliamentary Election, we will start from zero,” he said.

Shakeel said that the number of eligible voters for the Parliamentary Election is 240,009.
