Male’ City Council has kicked off a project to place dustbins on the streets, as part of its efforts towards waste management in Male’.
The council said that under this project dustbins will be placed in 17 regions in Male’, and the placement of the first 100 dustbins will be completed by the end of today.
Dustbins will be placed in parks, near government office buildings and blocks of flats, and at ferry terminals.
City Council said that the project to place dustbins will be carried out under an agreement with the council, by Business Image Group (BIG).
The Waste Management Regulation enforced on 5 February states that dustbins must be placed at all public places, and failing to use these bins could result in a fine of MVR 100.
