Police have said that 99 arrests have been made up till this morning, following the unrest due to protests held by MDP against President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik delivering his presidential address yesterday.

A Police Media Official said that the arrested people include six children, 13 women and eighty men.

Police said that 14 of the arrested people have tested positive for drugs. Police did not disclose their names or what kind of drugs they had been using.

Eleven Police officers were injured in yesterday’s violence. One officer whose condition is serious has been sent abroad for treatment.
