MP Alhan undergoing surgery in Sri Lanka

MP Alhan Fahmy’s family has said that he is undergoing surgery for injuries to the spine. The MP was feared paralyzed from the waist down and airlifted to Central Hospital in Sri Lanka hours after being stabbed on Saturday night.

Speaking to Sun from Colombo, Alhan’s father Mohamed Fahmy said: “He was taken to the operation theatre a while ago. We think it will take around two hours.

“The stab had reached the spine. He can’t move his left leg. We’ll know after the operation. Alhan’s condition has not worsened since we got here,” Mohamed Fahmy said.

Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmy was stabbed in Breakwater restaurant in Artificial Beach, Male’ around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night.

Three suspects, including a 18-year-old man, were arrested in connection to the stabbing. Police said the three individuals will be presented before the court for an extension of detention hearing this afternoon.
