Two people who broke a glass pane of a jewellery shop and tried to flee with several pieces of jewellery, have been caught by the police.
The incident took place at 12:25 a.m. on Thursday morning at a shop called Rhombus, located near Hilaaleege on Orchid Magu.
The thieves tried to escape with their pockets filled with jewellery, but were caught by the police officers on guard near Justice Building.
An eyewitness told Sun Online that the two people seemed intoxicated, and as soon as they arrived on a motorcycle and smashed the glass pane, people in the area alerted the police.
The police officers near Justice Building went running to the scene, and caught one suspect as he exited the shop, and the other while running on the street.
Police told Sun Online that several pieces of jewellery were found in their pockets, as well as on the street at the scene of the incident.
The police said that the suspects are two males aged 18 and 19.
An official of Rhombus said that the thieves smashed the glass pane and the silver jewellery showcase, and that their aim was to steal the silver jewellery in the shop.
