Fire Station established, foundation stone laid for Radar Station in Kadhdhoo

A Fire Station has been inaugurated, and the foundation stone has been laid for a Radar Station in Laamu Kadhdhoo today by Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim.

Speaking at the ceremony to lay the foundation stone, Nazim said that this event marks the fulfilment of a long-time wish of the people of Laamu Atoll.

He said that the establishment of a Fire Station in Kadhdhoo was one of the first 100-day targets of the new government.

He said that with the Fire Station in Kadhdhoo, fire services have now been established in seven atolls in the country. He said that efforts will be made to inaugurate fire services in more locations this year, including the establishment of a fire station in Gaafu Alifu Vilingili.

Nazim said that the government’s aim is to establish fire services in all atolls.

He said that the government plans to establish at least one fire station in every atoll, through which fire services will be provided to all islands.

Moreover, ‘Community Volunteer Fire Fighters’ will be trained in islands that lack fire stations, said Nazim.

He said that 15 Auxiliary Firemen training positions will be opened soon for Kadhdhoo Fire Station.
