The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has postponed the issue of suspending Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed, following the leak of a sex video involving him some months ago.
JSC member appointed by the parliament MP Ahmed Hamza told Sun Online that the issue of suspending Judge Hameed was not discussed at the JSC meeting held today.
Debate on the issue was tabled for today’s meeting after JSC members failed to make a decision at the previous meeting, held on 15 January.
MP Hamza said that a decision must be made on this matter, and that JSC President Adam Mohamed Abdulla has been requested to table the issue again soon.
“I asked him to table the issue. He said that he will think about it, and make a decision. I don’t think there’s anything to think about,” said MP Hamza.
While Ali Hameed has not been suspended after accusations surfaced of him having been involved with prostitutes, two other judges have been suspended recently following other, dissimilar accusations.
However it is not known if any progress has been made in JSC’s investigations against the other two judges.
