Candidates for MDP Parliamentary Group announced

Names of candidates who will contest in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Parliamentary Group Election on 28 March have been announced. The last day to submit names was yesterday.

Hinnavaru MP and current President of Parliamentary Group Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) is the only contestant for President of Parliamentary Group.

Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed, Hithadhoo Uthuru MP Mohamed Aslam, Maafannu Hulhan’gu MP Abdulla Abdul Raheem and Thoddoo MP Ali Waheed will compete for Vice President. Two people will be elected as Vice President.

Henveiru Dhekunu MP Hamid Abdul Gafoor is the only candidate for Secretary General, and Thinadhoo MP Mohamed Ghasam is the only candidate for Deputy Secretary General.

Three people will be elected as Whips, for which the candidates are Galolhu Uthuru MP Eva Abdulla, Baarah MP Mohamed Shifaz and Hulhumeedhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb.
