Eight thousand cases related to finance and property were submitted last year: Police

Police have said that more than 8,000 cases were filed last year related to finance and property.

Statistics of 2011 published by the Police show that 8604 cases were submitted in relation to finance and property, making this the category with most number of cases. Of these, 891 have been submitted to Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office. Second most common are theft cases, which amount to 5454. Investigations of 533 of these cases have been completed and submitted to PG Office.

Last year, 1614 cases related to counterfeit and forgery were also reported.

Deaths caused by traffic accidents amount to eight, while 2264 other traffic accidents were submitted. About 1,000 of these cases concern vehicles on land.

Police received reports of 1616 narcotic and drug cases last year, in addition to 96 alcohol-related cases.

Police submitted ninety terrorism cases to the PG Office last year, along with 421 assault cases.

Three murder cases and two cases relating to murder of children have been submitted to PG Office. Murder cases amount to 171, of which twenty have been sent to PG Office. Reports of 14 suicides were received, of which three have been submitted to PG Office.

Of the 17 cases related to adultery that were reported last year, eight have been sent to PG Office.

Police statistical records show that eight infants were murdered immediately after birth last year. One of these cases has been submitted to PG Office. One case where a person murdered a child to hide her birth was also reported.

Police received 15 reports of homosexual conduct last year, most of which involve men.

Cases of sex outside marriage were 485, of which 210 have been sent to PG Office. Rape cases amount to 130, of which 32 have been sent to PG Office.

Seven cases related to rape of tourists were reported, and five cases of rape of people with special needs were reported. Thirteen prostitution and one forced child prostitution cases were reported. Sexual abuse of children amount to 262, most of whom were between 15 and 18 years.

Reports of 59 pornography cases were received, most of which are for taking and filming pictures.
