ADK prepares to serve pregnancy and heart patients

ADK has begun work towards introducing new services for heart patients, heart operations and treatments for people with problems conceiving.

General Manager of the hospital Ahmed Affal said during a press conference held on the occasion of the hospital’s 25th anniversary that new services have been introduced on the occasion of their anniversary. They will continue efforts to constantly introduce new services in the future, and work has begun towards commencing services not available in the Maldives so far.

Affal said that expansion efforts are also underway. This year, a new wing will be built next to the main building of the hospital. New services for heart patients, new heart operations, new treatments for people trying to conceive and special services for the elderly will be introduced there.

“Work towards the introduction of these services has already begun. This will be a two-year project,” Affal said.

He said that the expansion project is worth US$ 21 million, of which investments worth US$ 6 million have already been made.

ADK has also introduced new services on the occasion of their 25th anniversary, which commenced at 10:30 yesterday morning. A dialysis unit has been established, and the service costs Rf 1350.

In addition, their new labor room was inaugurated today, which has the capacity for seven patients. New machines have been installed in the laboratory, and biochemical services have commenced. Blood bank services have also been introduced, which would make it simpler to obtain different blood types for patients.

Starting today, ADK has also introduced a special gift for every patient. A small box handed to every patient contains a green apple (as the ADK logo represents) and a few cards containing information. This will go on for one week.

The hospital also conducted special programs on the occasion of their anniversary. An information counter has been set up so that patients can easily obtain information on the hospital. A station for nurses has also been established, making work easier for nurses.

ADK came into existence on 15 March 1985 as a clinic, located in M. Thilafehige.
