Ministry of Home Affair has launched a national clean-up program in connection to the National Unity Day, 26 December.
Deputy Director at the Ministry of Home Affairs Ahmed Shiyam told Sun today that the program began at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until noon in all islands across the country. He said that government staff, company employees and people from NGOs are participating in the program.
“This is an effort to clean-up the whole country. We have spread across different areas in Male’ and we’re cleaning the streets, picking up cigarette filters too. We’re cleaning the harbours as well,” Shiyam said.
He said the clean-up aims to foster unity and bring people together through a country-wide effort.
