Chairpersons of several state companies dismissed, new officials appointed

The Privatisation and Co-Privatisation Board has dismissed chairpersons and board members of four state companies, and appointed new officials to these posts.

This includes the dismissal of Thorig Ali Luthfee and the appointment of Asma Rasheed as Chairperson of Aasandha Private Limited, the dismissal of Mohamed Afeef Hussain and the appointment of Mohamed Nadheem as Chairperson of Fenaka Corporation, the dismissal of Ahmed Shareef and the appointment of Mohamed Afeef as Chairperson of the Board of State Electric Company, and the dismissal of Aminath Athifa as the Chairperson of the Board of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Limited (MTCC) and the appointment of Ahmed Shiham Ali as the Managing Director of MTCC.

Four officials have also been dismissed from the Board of MTCC. They are Mohamed Ali, Imran Wajdhee, Ihsan Shareef, and Mohamed Nabeel, who have been replaced by Moosa Naseem, Ahmed Azmeel, and Hussain Salim Mohamed.

The law on the privatisation, co-privatisation, monitoring, and evaluation of state trading companies states that the appointment of members to the boards of government companies must be carried out by the seven-member Privatisation Board. The seven members are appointed to the Privatisation Board by the president.
