Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has launched a campaign to find tax evaders and fraudsters.
For this purpose, MIRA has introduced a page on its website entitled ‘Blow the Whistle’, which includes a form to be filled in by persons who have information on tax evaders and fraudsters.
MIRA has pointed out on this page that it is an offence to include false information or omit information related to income or profits when submitting tax statements to MIRA.
MIRA has urged anyone who has information on tax evaders and fraudsters to come forward and share that information.
Whistle-blowers are not obliged to reveal their identities, and MIRA has assured that it will sustain their anonymity unless required by law to reveal that information.
