Wataniya rebrands as

The second company to start providing mobile services in the Maldives, Wataniya Telecom Maldives, has changed its name to Ooredoo.

This rebranding comes eight years after Wataniya introduced its services in the Maldives.

A ceremony was held at Kurumba Maldives tonight to mark the change of name from Wataniya to Ooredoo.

Ooredoo is an Arabic word meaning ‘I want’.

Wataniya has said that from now on, its Global Ambassador football player Lionel Messi will use the new name in advertisements.
