President appoints Attorney General to Judicial Service Commission

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed Attorney General Mohamed Anil to Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

President Yameen presented the letter of appointment to Mohamed Anil this afternoon at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

Before the presentation of the letter of appointment, Mohamed Anil took the oath of membership of JSC. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Uz Abdulla Areef.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and Minister at the President's Office Abdulla Ameen.

Article 158 (i) of the Constitution requires the Attorney General to sit as a member of the JSC.
