President nominates former Deputy Police Commissioner as new High Commissioner to Malaysia

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today proposed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rtd) Mohamed Fayaz, as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia, for approval by the parliament.

President’s Office revealed that the request for approval was communicated via a letter from the President to the Speaker of the Parliament, where the President had asked the Speaker to expedite the process and inform a decision as early as possible.

Former Maldives Ambassador to Malaysia Mohamed Zaki (Nazaki Zaki) resigned on 11 November 2013.

Mohamed Fayaz is the interim president of the political party Maldives Industrial Alliance and also holds the post Minister of State for Home Affairs.
