EC allows window for second round voters

Elections Commission has called on the public to file complaints regarding the voters’ list between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) for the second round of the presidential election scheduled for Saturday, 16 November.

The commission urged for voters’ who have re-registered to vote in locations other than their permanent home towns to check their registration and file grievances as necessary.

Voters can check their registrations status through the voters’ list published on the Elections Commission website and by dialing or sending a SMS to the commission’s toll free number, 1414.

The commission said grievances will be accepted through a special complaints form, which will be available from the commission’s website, reception at the Elections Commission’s main headquarters and all island council offices in the atolls.

Candidates on the ballot paper for the second round of the presidential election are Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Mohamed Nasheed and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) candidate Abdulla Yameen.
