The captain who suffered burns when his boat caught fire in Thilafushi on 27 October has passed away today.
A friend of the captain told Sun Online that the captain, Abdul Muhsin Saeed, died while being treated at a hospital in India.
He said that Muhsin is the owner of Funamaa boat, which caught fire last month.
Following the incident, the police said that out of the four people who suffered burns, a 38-year-old had burns on 55-60 percent of his body while a 48-year-old had burns on 25 percent of his body.
Funamaa caught fire after it left Male’ with goods, and was on its way to Thilafushi to load gas. The fire started in the engine.
The boat was completely destroyed by the time the police and MNDF managed to control the fire.
