State Trading Organisation (STO) has placed an order for a 7,000-ton oil shipment.
Managing Director of STO Shahid Ali told Sun Online that the order, for diesel, petrol, and jet fuel required by the country, was placed yesterday.
He said that the shipment will arrive on Sunday or Monday.
The government provided $3.5 million for the shipment, while the remaining $3.5 million was contributed by STO.
“This shipment will last six days. Efforts will commence tomorrow to order the next shipment. It’s not been possible to do much today since it’s a holiday, but it will be done tomorrow,” he said.
He said that with the arrival of this shipment the problem of oil shortage will be solved to some extent.
STO said earlier that $20 million have to be paid to the supplier to meet the present demand for oil, and that it was not possible to make this payment because large sums remain outstanding from the government.
