Tourist dies while swimming at Vilamandhoo Resort

A tourist has died while swimming in the sea at Alifu Dhaalu Vilamandhoo Resort and Spa.

The police said that the incident was reported at 4:10 p.m. today, following which an investigation team from Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo Police Station visited the resort.

The deceased is a man from China.

An official of Vilamandhoo Resort told Sun Online that the man drowned, and was discovered at around 4:00 p.m.

At least seven tourists, most of them Chinese, have died in incidents at sea in the Maldives this year.
