Gender Minister calls for more women to stand for parliamentary election

Minister of Gender, Family and Human Rights Dr Aamal Ali has called for more women to stand for the parliamentary election to be held next year.

Speaking to the press inside Velaanaa Building on Thursday, Dr Aamal said women should have more voice in political decisions.

“Elections are being held quite often. Women have to come forward in the local council elections and other election, to make their voice heard.”

“Women’s share must be represented in policy making, the legislative process, and the also as service providers,” Dr Aaamal said.

She also noted the importance of economic empowerment or women.

“Just as much, we must facilitate economic empowerment for women,” Dr Aamal said.
