Former Medhu-Henveiru MP Ali Azim has been transferred to house arrest.
The police said that he was placed under house arrest yesterday.
“Azim was transferred to house arrest based on the progress of the ongoing investigation,” said the police.
Azim said on Twitter yesterday, “I have been transferred from Dhoonidhoo Jail to house arrest. Thank you everyone for your support.”
The Criminal Court’s decision to give a detention period of 15 days to Azim, has now been appealed.
Azim was arrested for forcefully entering the parliament building and attacking and disobeying security officers, after the Supreme Court ruled that he had lost his parliament seat.
