The Elections Commission (EC) has sent 4,000 re-registration forms to the Department of National Registration (DNR) for fingerprint verification.
In an interview tonight, Secretary General of Elections Commission Asim Abdul Sattar told Sun Online that the 4,000 forms sent to DNR were selected randomly in the presence of representatives of political parties.
He said that the verification of fingerprints on these forms is likely to be completed in about two days, and that the forms that are rejected will be dealt with in the same manner as the forms that were rejected earlier.
The Elections Commission first sent 500 forms for fingerprint verification to DNR. After verification DNR said that fingerprints did not match on 11 forms.
DNR verifies the fingerprints on the forms via Maldives Police Service.
