President proposes dismissal of Maldives Post Ltd MD

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has proposed the dismissal of the Managing Director (MD) of Maldives Ports Limited Badruddeen Naseem, to the Privatization and Co-privatization Board.

A Privatization Board official confirmed that the board received a letter from the President requesting the removal of Badruddeen Naseem, but did not mention the reasons for the dismissal.

“The matter will be presented at the next meeting of the Board. The board will discuss before the decision to dismiss,” the official said.

The Board is scheduled for 31 October, Thursday, the official said.

The Privatization Act requires the president to get clearance from the Privatization Board prior to appointing and dismissing board members of government companies.

Former Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited Ahmed Shafeeq was appointed as the Chairman of the company following Kela Mohamed Nizam's resignation just one week ago.
