A case has been filed to Supreme Court to annul the decision by the parliament to hand over presidential powers to the Speaker of Parliament in the event that a president is not elected by 11 November.
This case was filed by lawyer Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim (Waddey).
In an interview, Waheed told Sun Online that the decision, to hand over presidential power to the Parliament Speaker if a president is not elected by 11 November, is against the Constitution and Supreme Court rulings, and asked the court to annul this decision.
This decision was passed by the parliament on 27 October, with 39 votes in favour.
