Elections Commission (EC) has said that 20,800 re-registration forms, submitted by people who plan to vote from a location different from their permanent addresses, have been processed so far.
Speaking on Raajje Miadhu on TV tonight, Director of EC Ahmed Abubakuru said that only the re-registration forms of Baa Atoll remain to be processed, and that the total number of people who re-registered will be known once all forms are processed.
“For the presidential election scheduled for 9 November, 20,800 re-registration forms have been processed,” he said.
He said that the processing of re-registration forms will be completed soon.
He said that the only people who re-registered this time, EC believes, are people who travelled to the atolls and abroad for Eid holidays.
He said that the commission will welcome complaints on 1 and 2 November, and that complaints can only be filed by people who submitted re-registration forms this time.
He said that the people who fail to file complaints during the period given to do so will not be given this opportunity later.
He said that the complaints will be considered and the list will be published as soon as possible after making the necessary changes.
