High Court of the Maldives has decided to postpone the its annual recess.
The court said the decision was made after receiving an indication from the Elections Commission that the commission might hold the Local Council Elections in December this year.
The court’s regulation states that, unless decided otherwise by the court’s council, the High Court’s annual term shall begin on the first working day of January and end on the last working day of November.
The has also decided to continue ongoing trials.
High Court is the designated first tier court to hear all elections related case.
