MP Jabir elected as Chairperson of Public Accounts Committee

Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has been elected as the Chairperson, and Maduvvari MP Visam Ali as the Vice Chairperson of the Parliament Committee on Public Accounts.

Jabir told Sun Online today in an interview, that a chairperson and vice chairperson were elected for the committee because committees lost their composition when several MPs decided recently to change political parties.

He said that he was elected as the chairperson with the unanimous votes of the nine MPs present at today’s committee meeting.

Jabir said that PPM presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen, PPM Funadhoo MP Ali Saleem and JP Maradhoo MP Hassan Adil also voted in favour of electing him as the chairperson.

Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim and Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed did not attend today’s meeting.
