Cabinet decides to present Budget for 2014 to parliament

Following discussions on the projected State Budget for 2014 today, the cabinet has decided to present it to the parliament.

At today’s cabinet meeting, Minister of Finance and Treasury Abdulla Jihad briefed members on the key areas of focus in the preparation of the 2014 State Budget.

Members stressed at the meeting, that the uncontrolled expansion of budget deficit over the years has led to major external imbalance. Members also spoke on the importance of finding additional means of income, noting the rise of State expenses in the recent years.
