Running mate of the presidential candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the party’s hopes have been renewed by the end of their campaign tour in the southern atolls.
Speaking to Sun on the phone while en route to Addu City after visiting his native island, Fuvahmulah, Dr Jameel said that the campaign tour from the northernmost atolls to the southernmost atolls have shown that the people of Maldives have confidence in PPM.
“This time, the people believe that the country was built by the leaders of PPM, when they were in the government. The youth and the general public have confidence in the current leadership of PPM,” he said.
Dr Jameel said that he was confident that greater support exists for PPM in the southern atolls than previously anticipated.
Dr Jameel is accompanied by senior officials of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), which has formed a coalition with PPM for the presidential election.
While Dr Jameel is visiting the atolls in the south, Presidential candidate of PPM Abdullah Yameen is currently campaigning in Ari Atoll.
