Presidential candidate of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Abdullah Yameen has said that if elected, a PPM government would establish an airport in the region of Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo before the end of its five-year term.
Speaking at a ceremony to open a PPM campaign hall in Ihavandhoo, Yameen said that in addition to an airport, a PPM government would also establish a tranship harbour in the region.
Yameen highlighted that resort development projects in several islands remain unfinished after many years, and said that a PPM government would make efforts to expedite and complete these projects.
He also assured that if the groups that have been commissioned to carry out these projects are not able to proceed, the relevant laws will be amended and the projects will be handed over to other groups, in order to ensure that they are completed within one year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Leader of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) Ali Mauroof said that people should vote for PPM’s presidential candidate Abdullah Yameen and his running mate Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed in the upcoming presidential election, in order to change the country’s current situation and ensure happiness for the people.
