We will win Male

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has stated their candidate Yameen Abdul Gayoom will win Male’ by a landslide, in the September 7th presidential election.

Speaking to the media at a news conference in PPM office today, the party spokesperson Galolhu-south MP Ahmed Mahloof said that their recent door-to-door campaign has shown that they have great support in the capital. He said that PPM’s main rival, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) does not have the amount of support that they portray.

“People who supported MDP from my constituency no longer support them. We will strongly compete with MDP in Male’,” MP Mahloof said.

He said that PPM is predicted to win 44 percent in the presidential election this year, their major competitors in Male’ are PPM and MDP, and that President Waheed’s coalition will only gain 1 out of every 100 votes.

The PPM spokesperson said that they still have grievances regarding the Elections Commission, but some of their concerns have been addressed by the commission.
