The urban primary healthcare centre, Dhamanaveshi, has been inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
Speaking at the ceremony held today, President Waheed highlighted the importance of the establishment of such a centre to ensure the provision of health services, and said that the main purpose of this centre is to work closely with people to provide health services, and urged relevant institutions to establish similar centres in other areas in Male’.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Minister of Health Dr Ahmed Shamheed said that the new centre will provide all the services provided by the Male’ Health Centre.
The centre will also provide services such as doctor consultations and screening for communicable diseases, said Dr Jamsheed.
“This centre will be connected to IGMH, which will facilitate the provision of services and assistance available at the hospital,” he said.
He said that the centre will also provide services such as counselling, visiting patients at home, and giving health information.
The centre will be operated under the Health Protection Agency, and it will replace Male’ Health Centre.
