Police SWAT Team returns after training in Sri Lanka

The SWAT Team of the Maldivian Police Service has returned after completing SWAT training from the S.T.F. Camp in Sri Lanka.

The 10-week training program, which commenced on 23 June, ended yesterday with a ceremony at the S.T.F Camp.

All 24 Maldivian Police Officers of the Maldives completed the training successfully.

The SWAT Team that completed the training was met with by the Deputy Commissioner Hussain Waheed upon arrival in the Maldives.

Speaking at this meeting held at Shaheed Hussain Adam Building, the deputy commissioner stated that the SWAT Team was the most elite force in the Police organization of every country and that the training given to the team was the best in the region.

He also stated that the S.T.F. Camp had given good feedback regarding the Maldivian participants and congratulated them.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Central Operations Command and the Commander of “Operation Blue Wave” , Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Saudi.

The Police SWAT Team is a highly capable team specially trained to save lives during dangerous circumstances.

As such, they will usually be deployed during hostage situations and large conflicts where many lives are at risk.

The SWAT Team is also utilized when giving extra protection to sensitive persons of interest.
