Five people have been arrested on Wednesday night for vandalizing campaign flags in the streets of the capital Male’.
Police revealed the five people were of ages 18, 20, 32, including two 21 year-olds.
According to the police, the 32 and 20 year-olds were arrested around 01:20 a.m. near M.H.A. Mart in Abadhahfehivaa Magu, the 18 year-old was arrested around 01:35 a.m. near Carnival area in Henveyru, and the two 21 year-olds were arrested around 02:50 a.m. near Check Mark mobile shop in Majeedhee Magu.
Police said that some of the men have criminal records for drugs, assault, theft and intimidation.
Three other individuals, including a minor, were arrested on Monday night, also for vandalizing campaign flags. Police said that some amongst the three also have criminal records for child abuse, drugs, and disobeying police orders.
