Civil Court has dismissed a defamation case against Fares-Maathoda MP Ibrahim Mutholib filed by former Maldivian Democratic Party President Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra).
Being reviewed by the court following an order by the High Court, the case was dismissed by the Civil Court after representation from Ibrahim Ismail failed to attend the hearing, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. yesterday.
Ibrahim Ismail raised the defamation charges against MP Mutholib for remarks made by the MP on the 7th June 2010 while speaking on a DhiTV program, where he had stated that the Ibrahim Ismail received the MES building to conduct his private college Mandhu, without any prior announcement for bids, and that the college was also granted funding from Education Fund, regardless of objections raised by fund’s board.
