Criminal Court has cancelled today's hearing for the three individuals charged with the murder of Abdul Muheeth of G. Veyru, scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
Media Official for the Criminal Court Mohamed Manik said that the court was forced to cancel today’s hearing because the witnesses by the accused failed to attend court.
“Today’s hearing was cancelled because witnesses presented by the accused failed to attend court,” Manik said.
The State has charged Muhjath Ahmed Nasih of Ablaeege, Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo, Ali Mushaffau of Sultan Villa, Seenu Maradhoo, and Mohamed Maimoon of Zaithoonige, Lhaviyani Naifaru, with the murder of Abdul Muheeth.
During the previous hearing, the court had heard defence witnesses presented by defendant Ali Mushaffau, where his mother, father and sister had confessed that Ali Mushaffau was asleep at home at the time of the murder.
Muheeth was stabbed to death on Sunday, 19 February 2012 at around 1:05 a.m. while he was sitting on a motorcycle in a blind alley near the Ministry of Finance.
Two minors have already been sentenced to death by the Juvenile Court, for the murder of Abdul Muheeth.
