The issue of appointing persons to the posts of president and vice president of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has been put on the agenda of the parliament sitting scheduled for Tuesday.
The parliament voted and approved yesterday, to appoint Fathimath Reenee Abdul Sattar as a member of the CSC to replace Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, following which Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Shahid announced that persons will be appointed to the posts of president and vice president of the CSC as per the CSC Act, on Tuesday, 20 August.
Article 17 (b) of the CSC Act states that a president and a vice president shall be appointed to the commission from the members of the commission, through a vote taken at the parliament.
Fathimath Reenee Abdul Sattar was appointed as a member of the CSC yesterday by the parliament with 51 votes in favour and three abstentions.
