The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has signed an agreement regarding the construction of 400 housing units in islands that will be determined by the government.
The agreement between the Housing Ministry and local company GNL Investment Private Limited was signed at a ceremony held today.
Under this agreement, the company will also establish a water system and sewerage system in Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo.
Speaking to reporters after signing the agreement, Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that this project will not be financed by the government.
“This project will be implemented by the company which will be given an island for resort development. It is not financed by the government budget,” he said.
He said that the cost of the project is $27 million, and that it should be completed within two years.
The agreement was signed today by Managing Director of GNL Investment Private Limited Ahmed Shiyam and Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
