Hussain Zahir, a Quran teacher from Seenu Hithadhoo Sharefuddheen School has won Television Maldives’ “Maldives’ Brightest Star” award by winning the public broadcaster’s Quran competition held this Ramadan.
Hussain Zahir won the title by competing with 12 other candidates. The title was handed over to Zahir by Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain at a ceremony held in TVM last night.
Second place was won by Shameem Ahmed Faisal, with Al-Hafiza Aiminath Reehan came in third place.
Hussain Zahir won a number of prizes along with his title, including a reward of MVR 100,000. According to TVM, the total value of the prizes won by the winner amount to nearly MVR 250,000. Total value of prizes for the second place winner was close to nearly MVR 75,000 while nearly MVR 50,000 worth of prizes were won by the third place winner.
TVM stated that nearly 270 candidates came forward for the competition, from which, the number was first trimmed down to 36 candidates, and finally to 12 individual candidates.
