Man injured in Fuvahmulah accident dies

The young man who suffered serious injuries in a road accident in Fuvahmulah last night has passed away.

Media official at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Sun that the victim, 28 year old Mohamed Shujau of Atha, Fuvahmulah, died around 12:50 p.m. today while being treated at the hospital.

Zeenath said that Mohamed Shujau was taken to IGMH around 12:05 p.m. today and that he had suffered serious head injuries when they received him.

Describing the accident to Sun, a man from Fuvahmulah said that Shujau was hit by another motorcycle that turned into Mohamed Jamaaluddeen Naibu Thuthu road, on which Shujau was travelling. He said the cycle that collided with Shujau was being ridden by two young men below the age of 18 and that they did not have driving licenses.

Fuvahmulah Hospital said that Mohamed Shujau was a heart patient who had undergone two previous heart surgeries.
