Police appeals for public assistance to find Hulhumale

Police have appealed for public assistance to identify the foreigner suspected of raping a 19 year old girl in Hulhumale' yesterday morning.

Police said that the suspect is known to have travelled from Hulhumale’ to Male’ around 10:00 a.m. yesterday.

They described the man to be about 5 feet and 7 inches tall, with short hair, wearing a gray shirt and gray trousers yesterday morning. They also said that the man would have had a badly injured left forefinger during his ferry ride back to Male’.

Police appealed to the public to come forth with any information regarding the man.

Police said that the rape was reported around 10:30 a.m. yesterday and that they predict the incident to have occurred around 9:30 a.m.

Sources told Sun that the girl had described the man as a foreigner and that he had threatened her with a knife to subdue her to commit the rape.
